The Baby Room is located upstairs on the 2nd floor and is adjacent to the Toddler Room. There is a carpeted room at the far end of the baby room which is used for sleep times as well as providing a quiet space when children want to relax.
Communication books/daily diaries are provided to keep parents informed of their child’s day at nursery including nappy changes, sleeps, and mealtimes.
Parents are required to provide nappies, baby wipes and either formula or expressed breast milk.
All children are assigned a Key Person who will be responsible for the majority of your child’s daily needs. This helps your child form bonds and enables our home from home environment. As many of our staff work part time your child will also have a Buddy Key Person.
The baby room caters for ages 6 weeks-2 years with a minimum ratio of 1 adult to 3 children. We aim to have 1 adult to 2 children for Under 1 year olds. With younger babies the emphasis is very much on providing home from home care with lots of love care and cuddles. We try to work closely with parents to ensure that babies’ home routine is followed as much as possible and parents are provided with comprehensive information on their child’s day at nursery in the form of a diary.
We provide a large selection of resources including bricks, stacking toys, small world animals, books, loose parts, and authentic role play. Children also enjoy sand, messy and wet play, a ball pool, and large soft play amongst many other things to develop gross and fine motor skills and coordination. Through lots of play and interaction from our staff babies are encouraged to explore the world of colour, shape and texture and take their first steps towards language development.
Through careful observation, assessment and “in the moment planning” within a fun and caring environment we cater for your child’s individual needs with the emphasis on learning through play. The baby room is a bright and cheerful room which provides a calm yet stimulating environment. There is a woodland themed room at the far end of the baby room which is carpeted and equipped with soft furnishings. This is used for sleep times as well as providing a quiet space when children want to relax.
